Skridskonätet

Skridskonätet (Skatingnet) is a non-profit association made up of clubs engaged in Nordic skating activities. Its purpose is to provide and develop services for the exchange of ice information for long-distance skating and ice sailing.

This is primarily achieved through a range of services where members of member clubs can access ice reports originating both from their own club and from all other clubs in Skridskonätet.

As a member of Skridskonätet, clubs are offered, among other things, the following services:

  • Access to ice observations from members in all clubs. The observations are available via a clickable map and can also be searched in an archive. Ice observations are also distributed via email.
  • “Ice News” – a summary of current ice information on the website, searchable historically and distributed via email.
  • The ability to upload trip reports to the website, searchable historically.
  • The ability to upload photos and GPS tracks, and link these to ice observations and trip reports. Tracks are displayed on a map, where geotagged photos can also be placed.
  • Access to the Skating Atlas, which presents supplementary information about skating areas – such as parking locations, bus stops, and points of interest.
  • A personal “My Page” section for club members, where links to trips they have participated in, photos they have taken or appear in, and the lakes/waterways they have skated on are gathered – an excellent skating diary.
  • The option for the club to have its own website with Skridskonätet’s ice information integrated. This site can either be on its own domain (e.g., sssk.se) or as a subdomain of skridsko.net (e.g., lss.skridsko.net).
  • Email lists for distributing ice information to members, as well as for trip leaders, ice reporters, the board, and similar groups.
  • Access for the club’s members to equivalent services provided by other clubs within Skridskonätet.
  • Clubs interested in becoming a member of Skridskonätet can contact the board via the contact form.
